Return to Castle Wolfenstein is built on the awesome Quake 3 Arena engine by the id Software team. The game itself is loosly based on World War II seeing the Axis and Allies do battle.

The games flawless attention to detail, fluid multiplayer and single player gameplay means that it has already been modded a great deal! These mod's do not let this game down either adding to it's wonderful single player campaign and also creating new multiplayer environments which see's this somewhat arcade war simulation taken to the next level in excitement...

now get this damn game and load up some mods because it ROCKS!

Today is National Day in France. On this very day 10 years ago, Dark Matter Productions was born.

And we're still here.

Dark Matter Productions - a decade of Wolfenstein modding

If you had told me 10 years ago that I'd still be into Return to Castle Wolfenstein modding in 2023, I'd certainly not have believed it. And yet, here we are today. It's been an exciting journey so far, I must say. Even after all this time, my passion for this game is still strong, just like my determination to make great mods and tell new stories, and it's really all thanks to you. So, thank you everyone. 🙏

All of our creations and contributions this past decade exist today thanks to all of your continued support. Our official website has been updated with a new page detailing our history, so feel free to check it out by clicking on the above picture, or use this link.

Official merchandising - coming soon

To further celebrate the 10 years milestone, we will soon be launching our own merch. More details soon.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative

Season Pass announcement

Last month, we released Warbell, the first Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative expansion born from a partnership with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory mapper, modder and friend kemon, one that allows to use the sources for his various maps and remasters of said game for potential story-driven conversions. Said expansion release was very positively received, and I'd like to thank everyone for their amazing support! As such, today seems like the perfect time to finally reveal the bigger picture!

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative's Season Pass is currently in-development, aiming to bring all of the Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory custom maps related to the aforementioned partnership to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative. And that's not all, since you now get to choose which expansion shall be released next, by voting for any of said Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory custom maps to be converted next, in a Google Forms poll, which will be available forever, starting today (eventually-converted maps will simply be removed from voting options).

Click the button below or this link to access the poll. Get psyched! 🔥

Warbell, the first expansion of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative's Season Pass, is already available. Feel free to check it out! 🙌

The Dark Army 2: Downfall - status update

Initially announced way back in 2014, and officially revealed in 2017 as "The Dark Army: Downfall" (though briefly teased prior to that, in 2015, in the early access release of The Dark Army: Uprising), The Dark Army 2: Downfall is still alive, even after all this time! AND YES, IT'S STILL COMING SOON.

It's been 9 years since it was decided to split The Dark Army mod into two parts: Uprising and Downfall. At first, said parts were meant to form one and same mod. But as time passed, and The Dark Army: Uprising Remastered was released in 2020, Downfall was rebooted and became a fully-fledged sequel to Uprising, mostly since the former greatly evolved, hence "The Dark Army: Downfall" becoming "The Dark Army 2: Downfall" - a standalone, completely different mod, and more importantly: a numbered sequel title.

The Dark Army as a whole evolved from a mod to a series, in a sense, still consisting of two parts - a duology. This chain of events, my evolution as a creator, my change in vision, my learning of new skills, my new attention to details... all of it, along the parallel development of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative, explain the radio silence you may have noticed. But it will be over soon, so please stay tuned for more information in the future!

What's beyond?

As you can see, our modding journey is still far from over, with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative's Season Pass expansions and The Dark Army 2: Downfall coming soon (plus RealRTCW receiving a major update later this year, meaning more potential content in the pipeline). If you are wondering what's beyond that, then I should probably mention the next step for Dark Matter Productions.

In a word, next step is: games. That's right, it's quite the endgame goal for me - to go from story-driven mod development, to story-driven game development. Can't make mods forever. I've just recently started first discussions on the matter recently (with another, famous developer from our community), so it's still in early stages, but we may soon work on our first game, which will hopefully be reminiscent of the beloved game we've made so much mods for, while being its own thing. More details (hopefully) soon.

I guess that's it for today! Thanks for tuning in! I would like to thank the Wolfenstein community again for their amazing support; voice actors and all collaborators for their hard work, and for bringing their talent into my projects for free; any past, current and future donator on Patreon and PayPal, and Discord server boosters... everyone! 😁

Thank you all very much for everything! ❤️

Need a medic patron!

As you may know, I have a Patreon account for my modding activities. My mods are released for free - always have been, and always will be - so those who are/will be kind enough to donate (become a patron) will be getting in-game goodies as well as early access to demos and/or full versions of my current and future projects, depending of which tier they've subscribed to (subscriptions ranging from 1-5 EUR), and of course that includes Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player & Cooperative and its future expansions and versions.

is there any source port or mod that fixes the old ingame stencil shadows? (\cg_shadows 2) since sadly on vanilla game and other ports the shadows still appear broken.

Thanks for this amazing compilation of mods and the upgrades to so many things. It's awesome to have it in one package.

I was just wondering is it possible to toggle between the old and new weapon models? The new ones are definitely more "advanced" than the original ones, but the nostalgic feels of "how it was when I was 6 years old and played this" sometimes craves for that vanilla look. Is there any way to just have the visual side, especially for weapon models, look like it did in 2001 when it was released?
