Formerly the "QUAKE 2 Engine", with pioneering innovation in 3D environments, a few of id Tech 2's most notable features were out-of-the-box support for OpenGL hardware-accelerated graphics (in addition to the traditional software renderer), and colored lighting effects. Games created on this engine technology include QUAKE II, Hexen II, Heretic II, Sin, Soldier Of Fortune, Half-Life, Kingpin and Anachronox.

Some one make duke nukem 1998 on the quake 2 engine plz I beg I played the build engine one and that was amazing some one plx make a remake.
That'll be a good idea, but if you want something like it then go play Duke Nukem: TIME TO KILL. There should be a PC version out there last I checked.
Half-Life 1 wasn't made with id Tech 2 but it was made with GoldSource. Why is that saying in the description?
I agree, it should not be included in the description, but GoldSrc is built off of the id Tech 2 engine, so I understand why people would believe its from that engine
