Firebird takes Battlefield 2 and adds a balance of arcade and realism to the gameplay with lots of new vehicles, weapons, and over 100 individual maps to choose from. Multiplayer, co-op, and Singleplayer are available on all levels.
All levels are single-player, co-op, and multiplayer ready and I am continuously working on making the game better. There are tons of new, high-quality weapons, models, sounds, and effects, and over 100 levels to play on. Many parts of the game have been changed to make it more realistic, like removing the hit indicators so you need to look for blood to see if you hit someone, the velocity of the bullets and rockets are more realistic as well as the weapon damage but not so realistic that the game is unbalanced. The ai is more intelligent and firebird is a blast to play.
The vehicles in Firebird have been extensively modified to have more realistic armament and the weapons have more realistic trajectories. There are lots of new high poly vehicles and many have modern armament and realistic defense mechanisms such as a rocket tracking HUD. I have added overheating to the machine guns to balance the gameplay better and make it harder to go on a killing spree. Tanks and APC/IFV all zoom in and are capable of engaging and killing targets at medium to long distances but the land vehicles are only slightly faster than the vanilla game to balance the game better and make it more realistic by showing up late to the fight. Infantry screens are important to utilize, just like in the real world. Most vehicles include thermal imaging just like the real ones.
All airplanes and helicopters have been modified to balance gameplay and most have unlimited ammunition for long dogfights and play times. Planes and helicopter handling and characteristics are aimed to be more arcade than realistic style to make it easier to hop into a vehicle and start playing.
The weapons have been heavily modified to have more realistic handling and the damage has been modified to reflect their real ammunition while retaining the arcade-type balanced gameplay. The snipers have much higher damage making the kits more effective and the heavy machine guns will often kill players with one hit. Lmg, Hmg, planes, helicopters, and snipers have a suppression effect that makes your ears ring and the camera blurry and shake so it's hard to aim. The bullets use tracers but not excessively and are similar in size to real ones.
The low-detail sounds have been replaced with better sounding, more realistic ones, and the volume and distance have been modified to be more realistic so the game is more immersive. The effects are high resolution and make the game feel much more real and spectacular.
Bots ai have been modified to play more like real soldiers and maintain the objective-based squad-level gameplay while taking control points but they also flank and aren't afraid of a firefight. The weapon AI has been modified so the bots can hold their own against vehicles and have medium to long-range firefights.
All levels have been heavily modified to reflect the realistic approach to the game while still being fun to play, there are over 100 individual maps and most of them are large open-world environments and all of them are able to be played in single-player. Instead of including night vision, I have tweaked the lighting on night maps so you can still see without night vision goggles to balance the game better.
Firebird is a vehicle-heavy mod and many maps have the gameplay based around using vehicles but I have worked hard to make every level balanced and playable as infantry, vehicles, or planes/helicopters. Infantry units aren't defenseless against vehicles and making it challenging to drive a vehicle into a base and go on a killing spree. Bots shoot at helicopters with rockets and use stationary weapons making them even more lethal.

Most of the content in Firebird is created by others and modified by me and I have done my best to credit everyone who contributed. If I forgot you or someone you know, please let me know and I will credit you.
I started this mod around 2014 never intending to release it publically and I used the Alpha Project mod as the base because I liked the kit customization and that's why there are still some pieces from AP in the mod but most of it has been removed or heavily modified. I never intended to release FIREBIRD but after many of my friends played the game and liked it I thought I would share it with you all. Because I started the mod so long ago without intending to release it publically, I have forgotten many of the names of the people who created the content and I have been doing my best to credit those who I remember and contacting the creators of future content before it's added. I'm thankful for all the creators who have given me permission to continue using their content, thank you all.
A HUGE thanks to the modders who created this content, and have helped teach me how to mod. Hey, cool mod - good work, but see there is even a game called firebird: Store.steampowered.com :)
Yes, I was unaware of that. Firebird is a common name and the steam game is unrelated and a different kind. Cool coincidence though
Thanks for releasing the update, enjoyed a lot riding a BMP against the Germans, waiting for next update..😊
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you for updating! downloading!
Its really an awesome mod to play for BF 2, probably the best I would say. It deserves nothing less than 10/10, really loved it and yes looking forward to play and try more maps. Can't wait for v2.9😊.
Thanks! I'm too busy working to do anything with firebird, but I am trying to work on it again soon!
I believe u bro.
I will wait patiently.😊
This.
This thing is the best mod I've ever tried in a while.
You managed to strike that delicate balance of arcade and realism in a very exquisite form. The gunplay is solid, AIs are aggressive and smarter, and oh don't get me started on the aircraft gameplay. It's really fun!
I think some of the feedback or suggestions I'm gonna launch here are:
1. Can you please have more 64 player RU faction maps? Especially ones with aircrafts.
2. I think you should check some of the F-35. I don't know why but in some of them (particularly ones with 1 GBU-12 and 1 AGM-65 loadout) the AGM just doesn't work. Anyway, this concludes my comment. Good job on the mod, and I hope you keep updating :D
I'm really happy you like firebird! I'm planning more maps, I just need to decide which ones to use. I might make duplicates with new teams like area 51 with Russia and us. Can you describe what isn't working with the f35? Could you leave firebird a review? It goes a long way to helping the mod grow. Thanks! 😁
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your hard work! Looking forward for the new maps. And about the F-35, it turns out I just had skill issue that I thought the AGM locking capability is like the GBU XD. I sent my review, it deserves no less than 10/10, for real.
Also on an unrelated note, I am sorry if I sound rude, but is it allowed if I change the texture of some things in the mod for personal purposes? I won't reupload it or share it with other people.
I'm glad to hear that you found the issue. Feel free to personalize firebird,
