You’ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, you’ve been activated to do one thing – kill them all.
Hello DB, and apologies if this is an inappropriate post. I'm very new to all of this.
Mind helping me develop a thesis?
I had a thought a little while back to about the histories of the Doom series (Classic: Doom1, Doom2. And modern: 2016 and Eternal) and it got me thinking. These games would seem to line up surprisingly well. Initially what caught my eye was the difficulty curve. 2016 and Eternal is perhaps an extreme case but, realistically speaking, Doom 1&2 are kinda in the same boat in regard to ramp up. And map design too, Doom 2 seems to get flak like Eternal does for what some players perceive as lazy or cheap. I too. But feel like balancing my past repulsion with a new found appreciation.
I however am not sure where to start. But a solid thesis sounds as good as any. I am currently trying to discover if there is an exact question I'm trying to answer.
Examples:
I'm using this to further my interests in Doom and computers, and I hope to be able to use what I learn here on future projects. I have a few ideas but no skill. All I have now is a little knowledge and I'm hoping people out there will be supportive. There might be a Doom inspired game of my own in it for ya. But if you have any ideas for my analysis, I'd love any back and forths in the comments. I'll be working hard to learn about game design but it's kinda hard to write about it if I'm unsure about the focus.

DooM 2016 really liked the excellent work.
Does anyone still have DOOM Beta and Alpha? I searched it for years!
Somebody should make a mod where the corpses of fallen demons don't disappear.
Like that mod in Doom 3 called "NitroGore".
I'm finding this game to be a total snoozefest.
I did enjoy the old doom games (years ago ,lol) but this just seems meh.
Maybe it's because i've just finished playing Mafia 3 followed by the Mass Effect games.
All good immersive story driven games.
Playing this seems to involve just bashing in the head/or shooting whatever comes into range then rinse and repeat.
Whatever the story is ,it hasn't grabbed me yet,if any.
Maybe i pressed a key by mistake and missed some exposition at the beginning.
It has those same big textures like the newer Wolfenstein games but at least those games gave you a reason to be running around doing stuff.
Possibly it's one for the hardcore Doom fans or younger folk.
p.s:
and almost zero mods ,very sad.
I mean so was Bloodborne and Dark Souls etc - the 'lore' was often in items.
For those people who really want a story: There's a bunch of iPads lying around with story on it. There is a reason why you're doing stuff. Also you should know, that you're OBVIOUSLY trying to stop someone, who wants to open a portal to hell.
This game is definitely a sequel: Youtube.com
It also sets up a multiverse that ties all the games together.
love this game....
Hell i enjoyed this one. Really fits well old and new. Only bad thing that it's somehow not "bloody" enough. Or it could just be me. Great game overall. 8.5/10
If by bloody enough you mean checking your work of art you made with the symphony of slaughter once the dust settles then I agree with you, nothing takes you out of the immersion of demon slaughter like looking at the battle field you just murdered hundreds of demons in just to find it just as clean as when you entered it, no blood splatters no left over demon body parts.. nothing..
